Target species: blue cod
Keep the rig practical
A simple two-hook ledger rig or a single-hook bait rig can be effective when presented close to the bottom. Keep the trace manageable and use only enough sinker to reach the depth you intend to fish.
Rocky ground can abrade line quickly. Check the leader regularly and re-tie if it feels rough or damaged.
Fish with care
Use a landing net when conditions or boat height make it safer, and keep fingers clear of hooks. Return unwanted fish promptly and handle them with wet hands where possible.
Blue cod limits and regional rules differ. Check current local regulations and any area closures before setting out.
